Bismarck challenge a brief history

The Bismarck Challenge formerly known as the Herford Half Marathon has been run for at least the last 7 years. It was called the Herford Half Marathon until somebody suddenly realised that a Half Marathon shouldn’t be taking as long, so somebody went out and measured the course and found out that it was actually 14.1 miles(23.69km).

1^st (United Kingdom) Armoured Division and Signal Regiment organises this event each year with the help and backing from local business and organisations.  It has seen some very good finish times by Military and Civilian runners .

It has also  been very good for Community relations not only with the Military and Civilian runners but also Families and local Business.

Local and Military charities have both benefited in the past, the Local Red Cross, Kinder Schaft and Army Benevolent fund have all received donations.
